ANALYSIS OF THE USE OF ABBREVIATIONS IN SOCIAL MEDIA INSTAGRAM POST ON THE ACCOUNT @FOLKSHITT: MORPHOLOGICAL STUDIES

Abstract


Problems related to language are often found in everyday life along with the development of the times and technology accompanied by the development of various media, where people now often use abbreviations in communicating. This abbreviation phenomenon appears in line with the human need to speak practically, quickly and economically. This research aims to describe what types of abbreviations are found on social media, especially in posts on the Instagram account @folkshitt. This research is research that uses qualitative descriptive methods. The object of this research is all abbreviation data contained in the posts of the Instagram account @folkshitt in May 2024. The data source in this research is the types of abbreviations (abbreviations, fragments, acronyms, contractions and letter symbols) contained in the posts of the Instagram account @ folkshitt in May 2024. The data collection techniques used in this research were listening techniques and reading techniques. The results of this research show that in posts on the Instagram account @folkshitt there are five types of abbreviations, namely abbreviations, fragments, acronyms, contractions and letter symbols. The types of abbreviation that are most often found among the five types of abbreviation are abbreviations which contain 41 data and acronyms which contain 8 data.
