The Impact of Online Slot Gambling on Social Values in High Student

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the impact of online slot gambling games on the social values of high school children in Sungai Raya Dalam Village, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency. Online slot gambling games are increasingly common among people, including high school students, which can have an impact on their behavior and social values. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through interviews, observation and documentation of high school children and one of the teachers in the village. The research results show that student involvement in online slot gambling has a negative impact on social values such as material values, in the form of decreased academic achievement, personal assets being traded, and irregular financial resources. There are also other impacts on vital values which cause psychological problems, poor social relationships, unutilized time management and an impact on spiritual values which result in applicable religious norms being simply ignored due to dependence on the game. Apart from that, bad moral behavior also appears in high school students because playing online slot gambling has become a habit that cannot be abandoned in their daily lives. This online slot gambling game causes problems in the development of high school students, resulting in an increase in deviant behavior in the school environment and society. Thus, preventive efforts are needed from various parties, including schools, families and the community, to reduce the negative impact of online slot gambling on high school children in Sungai Raya Dalam Village.
