Abstract

At the moment, there are quite a several batik entrepreneurs in Indonesia, especially in Banten, who are active in increasing their competitiveness. To be able always to be able to continue to increase sales a good and appropriate performance is needed in the business carried out to reach the target market. UKM Batik Banten Mukarnas Center is one of the middle-class industries engaged in garment production. In meeting its demands, the UKM Batik Banten Mukarnas Center has not optimized its resources in its production process. There are still much wastes (waste) in terms of resource utilization (mainly raw materials of batik cloth) as a result of activities that are less efficient and or have no added value (non-value added). This condition has an impact on productivity and or profit being less than optimal. This study uses an effectiveness and efficiency approach to optimize the production process at UKM Batik Banten Mukarnas Center. Proposed improvements are made by modeling the system and simulated using Powersim software. As a result, in the existing condition, the time to produce one batik cloth was 92.5 minutes with the amount of batik cloth produced as much as 30.35 batik fabrics per 7 days. After being improved and simulated on the Powersim software, the third proposal was obtained as the best proposal, that is modifying the size of the batik stamp and adding the use of a drying machine in the drying process of batik cloth, where the time to produce one batik cloth was 69.7 minutes with the number of batik cloth produced 61.63 batik cloth per 7 days.
