Abstract


This study presents the model of contextual based social studies teaching materials. The aim is to improve the understanding and knowledge of fourth grade students in SDN 3 Batalaiworu in the odd semester of the 2017/2018 school year in Muna Discrit, Southeast Sulawesi Province. This research used research and development methods. The results of the study showed that: (1) the model of contextual social studies teaching materials are considered appropriate to be used in regular learning by experts and users; (2) the contextual model of social studies teaching material is effective in increasing students' understanding and knowledge
