IMPLEMENTASI PENDEKATAN REALISTIC MATHEMATICS EDUCATION UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN NUMERASI SISWA SD

Abstract: The implementation of literacy and numeracy enhancement activities in schools encourages more innovative learning. According to the 2023 report card of SD Negeri 050611 Aman Damai, the numeracy skills of fifth-grade students are in the lowest category (81-100%) both at the district/city level and nationally compared to other schools. Therefore, integrating mathematics into daily life through the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach is expected to improve numeracy skills in elementary schools. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach consisting of two cycles, each involving three meetings. Data were collected through observations and tests and analyzed using qualitative analysis methods. The subjects of the study were 32 fifth-grade students. The results show that applying the RME approach can enhance numeracy skills among fifth-grade students. This is evidenced by observation sheets from cycles I and II, where numeracy skills improved from 50% in cycle I to 84% in cycle II. This demonstrates that the RME approach is effective in improving numeracy skills among fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 050611 Aman Damai.
