Nurani Hukum acknowledges the growing influence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) technologies in academic research and publishing. These tools can support scholars by enhancing the efficiency, clarity, and accessibility of academic writing. However, their use must be governed by a strong commitment to transparency, academic integrity, and ethical responsibility.
The following guidelines apply specifically to the writing process and do not cover the use of AI tools for data analysis or research development:
-
GenAI and AI-assisted technologies may be used solely to improve the readability and language of a manuscript.
-
Such tools must be employed under human supervision. Authors are expected to carefully review and edit any AI-generated content, recognising that these tools may produce seemingly authoritative outputs that are inaccurate, incomplete, or biased. Authors bear full responsibility for the final content of their work.
-
AI tools should not be credited as authors or co-authors, as authorship entails intellectual accountability that cannot be fulfilled by non-human agents.
-
Authors are required to disclose any use of GenAI or AI-assisted technologies in the writing process by including a declaration at the end of the manuscript upon initial submission. This statement will appear in the published version of the article, in a section placed before the references. The following format should be used:
Declaration of Generative AI and AI-Assisted Technologies in the Writing Process
During the preparation of this manuscript, the author(s) used [NAME OF TOOL/SERVICE] for [SPECIFY PURPOSE]. The author(s) subsequently reviewed and revised the content as needed and accept full responsibility for the final version of the article.
This declaration is not required for the use of basic tools such as spelling or grammar checkers and reference management software. If no generative AI or AI-assisted technologies were used, no statement is necessary.
Please note: To protect the confidentiality and intellectual property of authors, the use of generative AI or AI-assisted tools (e.g., ChatGPT) by reviewers or editors during the peer review or evaluation process is strictly prohibited. The journal is currently assessing appropriate AI tools and may revise this policy in the future.
