Journal History

The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal dedicated to the exploration and advancement of victimology within the diverse and dynamic context of Southeast Asia. Our journal provides a platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to engage with various aspects of victimology, with a particular emphasis on the Southeast Asian region.

The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology was first published in June 2023. Apply for issn in October and issue in November 2023. The p-ISSN 3026-1953 and e-ISSN 3026-1627. SAJV is published periodically, once every 6 months, in June and December. Each issue usually consists of 5 articles, both conceptual articles and research articles. Initially The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology was managed through Open Journal System (OJS) 3, but in March 2024 there was a change in management at the University so that it was required to migrate to Open Journal System (OJS) 2. The move to OJS 2 affected various things, including all articles having to be re-uploaded in the OJS 2 account, the Flagcounter which had reached thousands of visitors and hundreds of countries was lost because it was reset and there were changes in the layout or appearance of the website which was quite disturbing to the appearance of the The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology website itself. Hopefully readers will still feel comfortable with the new look.

The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology has also been recognized by several national indexing agencies. In May 2024, Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology was indexed by several national institutions, namely Garuda and Google Scholar. Even every Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology article has a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) code from CrossRef. 

The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology has an international editorial board from RV University, India, namely Bhanu Prakash Nuna. He is a victimologist who is also the director of the Center for Victimological Research and Victim Assistance (CVRA) at School of Law, RV University who has joined the editorial board since the first issue. In each edition, there are authors from other countries, namely for Volume 1 No. 1 in 2023 there is Nurul Fadilah, a student of Stirling University, then Volume 1 No. 2 in 2023 is Muhamad Iqbal Ramadhan, a student from Irkutsk State of University Russia and Volume 2 No. 1 in 2024 is Ariesta Wibisono Anditya and Duan Ya Ran, students from the Law Faculty University of, Malaya Malaysia. 

The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology is committed to promoting a deeper understanding of victimization issues in Southeast Asia and facilitating collaboration among scholars, policymakers, and practitioners dedicated to victim-centered research and support. We invite researchers to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and victim rights within this diverse and evolving region. In each issue, there are practitioners such as advocates, prosecutors or police who also make the writing more colorful because it comes from empirical experience in law enforcement practice.

The Southeast Asian Journal of Victimology invites authors to submit original research articles, literature reviews, case studies, and theoretical contributions that align with the journal's focus and scope. The Journal maintains high academic standards and welcomes interdisciplinary perspectives within the field of victimology.
